What needs to get done

The 10k run is taking place in the heart of London - starts and finishes at The Mall.

When:

Sunday 25th May 2014 – times would be approximately between 09:30 – 14:00 however tbc nearer event date.

Where:

London - we would need 2 cheer points - one at around the 2k mark and one at the 7km mark in Victoria Embankment (near Temple tube station)

More detailed information:

The BUPA London 10,000 will take place at 10.00am on Sunday May 25th 2014. It starts and finishes in St James’s Park and uses Green Park as its assembly area.

The Bupa London 10,000 event is becoming more popular each year and 2014 is set to be bigger and better than ever with over 13,000 runners taking to the streets of London.

Not only does the course pass through a historic and beautiful area of London – starting by Green Park and finishing in front of Buckingham Palace - but it is also based on the 10k loop the Olympic Marathon runners used in the 2012 Olympic Games

The Race starts (and finishes) in The Mall and follows a clockwise route around the City of Westminster and the City of London. Runners pass many of London’s famous sights including, Admiralty Arch, Nelson’s Column, St Paul’s Cathedral, Mansion House, Bank of England, Leadenhall Market, The Monument, Millennium Bridge, Tate Gallery, Cleopatra’s Needle, London Eye, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey. It is also hoped that Buckingham Palace will act as the backdrop for both the start and finish. (All Royal Parks information is subject to approval).

This year Prostate Cancer UK will have a team of over 56+ runners taking part and raising funds for the charity.

Come along and join our staff at our cheer point - this is a fantastic way to experience the excitement of race day and support the people taking part! We need enthusiastic people to spot our runners, encourage and cheer them along the course and hand out sweets to give them a boost as they complete the run.

The atmosphere on the day is brilliant and you can be part of it by volunteering to support our runners! You can either volunteer alone or with friends – there will be lots of other volunteers and staff there on the day to ensure you have a great time.
