National Foundation for Cancer Research
About us
The National Foundation for Cancer Research is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to providing scientists in the lab the funding they need to make game-changing discoveries in cancer treatments, detection and ultimately, a cure. NFCR has distinguished itself from other organizations by emphasizing long-term, transformative research that is overlooked by other major funding sources.
One of NFCR’s guiding principles is to move people away from the old “location-based” approach to cancer. The genetic make-up of cancer is much more important than where it presents itself in the body. For example, a lung cancer patient may have more in common with a brain cancer patient than they do with other lung cancer patient due to the genetic makeup of their cancer.
With the help of 5.3 million individual donors over the last 48 years, NFCR has delivered more than $35=90 million in funding to cancer research leading to a number of important, life-saving discoveries.
